Synergizing Robotics and Field Sensor Technologies for Advancements in Smart Agriculture

SESSION SYNOPSIS

This Special Session is designed to address the rapidly evolving landscape of smart agriculture, focusing on the synergistic integration of innovative field sensor technologies with robotics as the main driver. 

We aim to explore the innovative solutions, challenges, and prospects arising from the synergies between these drivers and other enabling technologies such as the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and Earth observation to reshape agricultural practices, drive efficiency and precision, and foster sustainability.

The session will highlight the latest advancements in robotics designed for agricultural applications, such as autonomous machinery and drones. The role of IoT in creating interconnected sensor and robotic systems will be explored, demonstrating how real-time data enhances agricultural management. It will delve into the new generation of field sensors that collect vital environmental and crop data and how AI and Machine Learning algorithms use this data for optimized decision-making. The session will also discuss the importance of sensor fusion in the agricultural domain, which is enabled by these technologies while taking advantage of Earth Observation and Remote Sensing.
